๐ Excerpt from the Prologue
โGiulia, this book is for you. But not only for you. It's for everyone who has ever left a place to find another. For everyone who has packed their life into a suitcase โ more than once. For everyone who has asked: where is home?โ
โ From the Prologue
๐ Excerpt
โThere is an invisible thread that connects one heart to another. You can't see it. But it's there. And it cannot be broken. Ever. This book is my leg of the relay. My piece of the story. My baton. Now it's your turn.โ

๐ More from the Prologue
I started writing this book as a letter. A long letter. The kind you write when you realize that words spoken in the moment disappear, but words written down stay. They stay for years. They stay for generations.
I wanted Giulia to know where she comes from. Not just geographically โ Italy, Norway, the countries in between โ but emotionally. The choices that were made before she was born. The mistakes that shaped the person who would become her father. The love that crossed borders and languages and cultures to arrive at her.
But as I wrote, I realized: this isn't only for her. Every person who has ever felt caught between two worlds โ two cultures, two languages, two versions of themselves โ will recognize something in these pages. Every parent who has wondered what to pass on. Every child who has wondered where they belong.
Home isn't found. It's built. That's the lesson of six countries. That's the message of this book.
